EMS Event Medical — ICP Application & Assessment

Before You Begin

This tool records your application for recognition as an EMS Event Medical Intensive Care Paramedic (ICP) and assesses the clinical knowledge and practical competencies required to practise at ICP scope under EMS clinical governance.

What this assessment is — and is not

This is a recognition and competency record issued under EMS Event Medical clinical governance. It confirms you have demonstrated the knowledge and supervised practical skills required to work at ICP scope within EMS. It is not an independent qualification, an AHPRA endorsement, or a transferable licence. It may be reviewed, suspended or withdrawn at any time, and is valid only while you remain within scope, role and current EMS clinical direction.

How it works

Applicant details — your identity, AHPRA registration, certifications and a typed account of your relevant experience.
Written assessment — recognition questions across advanced clinical, cognitive and interpersonal domains. 100% is required to pass. You may retry the written assessment; each retry re-randomises nothing — the questions are fixed and clinically defensible, so a wrong answer means review the topic.
Practical sign-off — an EMS assessor confirms, by name and signature, that you have satisfactorily demonstrated each critical practical competency under direct supervision. EMS certifies observed competency, not knowledge alone.
Certificate — issued only when the written assessment is at 100% and the practical competencies are signed off.

Clinical scope & honest declaration

ICP practice involves advanced airway management, critical medication administration, complex resuscitation and haemodynamic monitoring. Answer to the standard you would apply on a real patient. If you are unsure of a current EMS protocol or drug, that is a prompt to revise with your Clinical Lead — not to guess.

This certification is issued by EMS Event Medical under its clinical governance. It records internal recognition of ICP competency for practice within EMS; it is not an independent qualification or external licence, and may be reviewed, suspended or withdrawn by EMS Event Medical at any time. Validity is subject to the holder remaining within scope, role and current EMS clinical direction.
